My own memories of good food trace back to my great-grandmother, Alexandria—the warm smells of fresh coffee and anisette—and to my grandfater, Gregorio “Roy,” cooking peppers and eggs in a well-seasoned iron skillet. Then there’s my mother Nancy, who made up pierogi and golabki and at times had pasta hanging everywhere. Mom will talk about “Tony Luke’s” in Philly, she lays down the law on cannoli—never pre-fill a cannoli—and she simply humbles us by showing us the old way of doing things, like dancing on the pasta. If you ask my wife, Kristy, what her favorite thing is she will say without hesitation, “My Nana’s slow fried chicken for breakfast.”

Family business means to us our kids, mothers, fathers, fathers-in-law, mothers-in-law, brothers, sisters, friends, family... the whole deal. Sometimes it’s like a circus in here, but that’s the beauty of it. We want you to really feel at home when you come here.

Sunrise Bakery is about the love of family, traditions, food, and above all, bread. I still have the piece of bread in a jar Alexandria gave me that was blessed by the Pope. I still have Roy’s iron skillet and I use it every day. If that tells you anything about me or our business and you would like to know more, just come by and visit, we'll talk.
